Spitalfields City Farm is a community space that inspires and that everyone can enjoy.
Another year ahead of us and another year of more and more work that needs to be carried out on the Farm.
As you will see I have had to increase the price this year, I did hold the price last year but I really can not afford to do that again. It has now increased to £38* per person with a minimum charge per group of £380.
We have experienced rising costs for everything here at the Farm and this has forced me to make this change. However, I can promise value for money and a great day out helping not only the Farm but the community too.
Last year was amazing, we got so much work completed and without your help we would be unable to function and remain open. We are so much more than a Farm, we are an education and food growing resource, and more importantly we are a place that you can come to, to get away from the pressures of life and enjoy the peace and find a little bit of solitude amongst our animals and plants.
I have listed below just some of the tasks that we need help with BUT this list is by no means exhaustive and our needs change on a daily basis, so always give us a call and we can talk through what we can offer.
So what do you get out of it? Well LOTS and please see some of the quotes below from a few of our groups. It is a great way for teams to come together and get to know each other away from the PC’s and phones. People find hidden talents they didn’t think they had and everyone leaves at the end of the day, tired but satisfied and with big smiles on their faces.
Quotes from a few of our teams in 2010
Lloyds … "I thought I would hate this when they said I was going to be helping with the muck heaps, but it has been fun!"
BNP Paribas … "I am more than happy to stay back and help finish put this fence up".
RBS … "I would like to come back and become one of your regular volunteers".
City and Guilds… "I never knew that this place existed and look at the people using this site, it’s great to be a part of it”…
So if you would like to experience working and helping out on the Farm for a day or two then please contact Mhairi on 0207 247 8762 or email mhairi@spitalfieldscityfarm.org.
We can discuss what your requirements and timescales are and what tasks we would like carried out. But also please be aware to get the very best out of the Farm be prepared to be flexible on the day as we may need a hand to shift piles of earth, or clean out a particular paddock or pick up materials etc.
*All the challenges are designed to be carried out between 10am and 4pm Monday – Friday inclusive. We make a charge of £38 per person with a minimum charge of £380, per team, for our basic challenges, this is to cover costs such as, staff supervisor, organising, planning, set up and delivery. This does not cover the cost of materials or a skilled supervisor for our more ambitious and creative projects.
