Spring at the farm…

We hosted a Spring festival and plant sale on the 6th of April, with a whole load of spring-tastic activities. Welcoming the spring half term with activities such as Chicken poo bingo, an Easter egg hunt and children’s arts and crafts. We were even lucky enough to have two new lambs be born just in time for the festival, more on them in a future blog post!

Prizes for chicken poo bingo and the Easter egg hunt

Prizes for Chicken poo bingo were generously donated by local businesses up and down Brick lane. A huge thank you to All Star Lanes, Cream Vintage, London Terrariums, Jen’s Plants and Florists, Brick lane bookshop, Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium and OAT Coffee for your amazing generosity when donating prizes.

For the younger visitors the day involved following a farm-y clue trail, collecting eggs around the farm and placing them into their own handmade baskets before collecting their own chocolate egg and fabulous farm Top Trumps. For the adults there was a plant sale with produce including lettuces, tomatoes, sweet-peas and beans. And finally for everyone to enjoy was a game of Chicken Poo Bingo, where bets were made as to where the hens and Jack our cockerel would poo, lucky winners claimed prizes from the prize table. We hope those who came down enjoyed the spirit of the day, it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying being at the farm.

Now onto the Spring Half Term, where we had a flourish of visitors old and new come by to explore the farm through activities such as family volunteering, farm to fork sessions, storytelling with Rez Kabir, a tadpole and pond-dipping workshop, and finally a drop-in arts and crafts session.
