What were you looking for from a team building session and why did you choose the Farm?

abdrn gave the Farm funding as part of our Global Greenspace project a couple of years ago. Then we set up a volunteering day in 2022, which went well so we were keen to do another.

How was your experience on the day and what activities did you do?

Following a tour of the Farm, our staff volunteers swept leaves, mucked out the animals and dug new beds, as well as helping out with a variety of gardening tasks. We were extremely lucky with the weather, it was a beautiful sunny November morning, and everyone had fun whilst meeting and networking with others around the company.

How do you think the Challenge Day benefitted your team?

The team benefitted on many levels from meeting new colleagues and networking/strengthening bonds, to learning about the farm, how it is managed and how it fits in with the environment and helps people in the community.  I think the most important aspect for us was learning about ways in which we can help the environment and also how it links in with mental health.  Offering our time, being outdoors and helping improve the Farm created a positive spirit and feeling of satisfaction for us all.

Anything else you’d like to add?

The farm has a wonderful community feel about it. We look forward to going back again soon to continue our support and seeing the progress that's been made!
