Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Spitalfields City Farm
At Spitalfields City Farm, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We are committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children, young people, adults at risk, volunteers, visitors and staff who spend time on our site.
Our approach is guided by best practice, regular staff and volunteer training, and clear procedures for reporting and responding to concerns. We expect everyone involved in the Farm—staff, volunteers, trustees, partners and contractors—to follow our safeguarding policies and uphold our values of respect, care and accountability.
Our Safeguarding Approach
Clear policies and procedures
We have up‑to‑date Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults policies, reviewed regularly to reflect current legislation and guidance.Trained staff and volunteers
All staff and volunteers receive safeguarding training appropriate to their roles, including how to recognise concerns, respond appropriately, and record information accurately.Safe culture
We work to embed safeguarding in everyday practice—through supervision, safer recruitment, risk assessment, and open communication.Reporting concerns
Any safeguarding concern reported to us is taken seriously. Staff and volunteers follow our step-by-step procedures, including logging early concerns and escalating them promptly to a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
